Out of contract in the lockdown
Hi. I hope everyone is safe and well.
I will be out of contract in a few days time. What is the best way to contact VM to negotiate a new deal during the lockdown? I am thinking of moving from my current VIP bundle (two V6 boxes with full house TV, movies and sport, Hub 3 with 350 meg broadband, talk more anytime phone and sim-only G4 mobile) to the Ultimate Oomph package (looks to be much the same as my VIP bundle but with increased broadband speed and unlimited mobile). I don't want to change my mobile number or any of my current kit.
Any suggestions?

Give 'em a call. It might take longer than usual to get through, but there are plenty of call centre agents working now.

Thanks SP, I will do that. I did dial 150 before posting but was put off by the predicted one hour wait.

Re: Out of contract in the lockdown
Hi Spiderplant,
A question regarding this if you would be so kind...
Should we call to renegotiate as heavyside is, does the sports pause become redundant?
Someone here mentioned new contracts do not have the discount as you are willingly entering into the deal knowing there is no sport to watch. Is this the same for a contract renewal?
Thanks

Yes, it believe it's the case that if you take a new contact that includes sports you can't then suspend those sports. So you may be better staying as you are for now.

Re: Out of contract in the lockdown
When I called up for a friend they were really unhelpful, basically using the covid situation to call my bluff, handed notice in anyway

Thanks Spiderplant, I thought that would be the case. I've got a couple of months left until renewal, hopefully we'll be sorted by then

Re: Out of contract in the lockdown
Just a quick postscript. After a shorter than expected wait I got through to a UK call centre and renewed my current package for twelve months for £20.00 (£240.00 pa) less than my current deal. Together with the discount for pausing Sky and BT Sport my next bill will be nearly £40.00 less than my last one. Sounds like a result.

Re: Out of contract in the lockdown
I called CS yesterday lunchtime and once I got through the automated menus - which said it could take an hour - the call was answered by a UK person in less than five seconds.
