Change up or down contract?

I have been on a sim only contract for a year where I pay £12.37 for unlimited calls, unlimited text and 4gb data plus roll over. Which I can change up or down once a month.
I've been useing a little more data recently so I thought I'd change it up. So I went on my account web page and went to change plan. Only to find it say there is nothing to change to. I went on the VM help forum and was told to ring 789 for help. Which I did. When I explained what I wanted to do I was told I would have to speak to retensions.
So I spoke to them and told them the same. I was asked what I wanted to change to. So I asked if I could change to the one for £10 for the similar one but with 6gb. They said yes and I would be sent out a new sim card and the new plan would start from the 28th April.
Now thinking about it I sounds that my contract has been changed not the plan just been upped. Ok it might be a better deal but I'm now probable stuck in another contract for a year.

Re: Change up or down contract?

Same thing here, but a bit more to my story.

I signed up for a virgin mobile LG G4 with small 3G contract and when the phone was paid up, i wanted to keep the phone (its good and has nothing wrong with it) and up the data plan to a 4G 1GB with free 4GB for life.

Me and my wife both have a virgin phone and also have Tivo XL TV, Broadband and Landline. I pay for everything, but it's all in my wifes name.

Anyway I wanted to up my data to 1GB with the free 4GB and Virgin sent me a new sim card out at the back end of 2017. I put my new sim card in and got my 1GB data, but the free 4GB for life went onto my wifes phone.

I wanted a bit more mobile data, so i logged on to the Virgin website a few times over a few weeks, but couldn't change my data plan. The website would give my wife the choice to change her data plan, but never gave me the option to change to anything.

So a few weeks ago i phoned virgin and asked for the £10 data plan with 3GB and free 3GB data for life. Everything sounded good until i got my text messages saying my new sim card was on its way.

It now looks like i've tied myself in to a year deal with virgin mobile and don't have the rolling monthly contract any more.

Oh and the thing that really got me over this contacting virgin mobile thing was that even tho i pay the bills, my wife has to talk to them because my name isn't on the contract... Why can't they add me. I'm sure they can see that we have two phones and that i'm my wife's husband and we live in the same house.
