The way RXTV has reported the story is poor.

So where has it been reported better (apart from on your blog), MB? Where have you got your information from? I have not read any reports saying what you're saying, or is this speculation on your part?

Here's the H&C FAQ. Lots of platforms mentioned, but not Virgin.

That bit about the Red Button Channel is just speculation on my part.
We will need to wait until January 18th before we know that is going to happen to Channel 298.

What I don't get is why you think Horse & Country is being withdrawn from Virgin Media. Where is your source for that information?
If it is just your belief, that is fine, but my point is that you have no credible source for that conclusion.

The Channel only broadcasts as an TV Channel in the UK and Holland and Virgin Media pick up their signal for the channel from Astra (Sky) so unless they move the signal to the Holland one it will also close on Virgin Media.
The Channel also broadcasts in Holland on the following Cable Networks.
Ziggo (The channel is shown in HD)
Caiway
DELTA
Kabel Noord
Kabeltex Netherlands
Stichting CAI Harderwijk

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2019)
Universal Channel and VH1 are both closing in the coming few weeks.
https://www.rxtvlog.com/2019/12/univ...-1-uk-axe.html
Universal TV, best known for its diet of NCIS and CSI series, will no longer be available from 27th January 2020
This follows the announcement that 5Spike will cease broadcasting in January. Could this be the beginning of many more scheduled channel closures as the streamers take over?
Perhaps we should re-name this thread 'Going Soon on Virgin Media'?

Looks like Universal and VH-1 will be closing soon. RXTV reports that they will close on Jan 27th on BT but nothing confirmed by other providers as yet.

It easy to know why Universal Channel is closing. To make way for Sky Comedy to launch.
VH1 shows can easy move over to other ViacomCBS Channels like 5Star and BET.
I think Comedy Central Extra will be the next ViacomCBS Channel to go.
On Sky all ViacomCBS Channels are broadcasting on FOUR transponders but ViacomCBS are also letting space for three channels (Nicktoons, Nick Jr. and Nickelodeon) and sitting beside Channel 4's Music Channels.

Streamers have been popular for a number of years now with Netflix, Amazon and Now TV in millions of homes, and yet still we have more linear channels than ever before.
https://www.barb.co.uk/viewing-data/...e-tv-compared/
Interesting that despite this people still watch the vast majority of television 'live'.
Why will the new streamers revolutionise consumer behaviour in a way Netflix, Now TV, Amazon etc have not?

Literally that shows data til the 8th December this year. Do you expect viewing habits to change for the last two weeks?

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2019)
I emailed H&C on December 20th asking if it would still be available on VM after 31st January. I've just received a reply back from Melanie H&C Customer Support Advisor saying
Quote:
Yes Virgin is staying as it is.
