Doubtless there will be those who feel they have to get two subscriptions to follow their teams in the Premier League But with 126 matches, this continues to be the highest number of matches ever available under one Sky Sports subscription.
2001-2004 66 Sky Sports, 40 Sky PremPlus
2004-2007 88 Sky Sports, 50 Sky PremPlus
2007-2010 92 Sky Sports, 46 Setanta
2010-2013 115 Sky Sports, 23 ESPN
2013-2016 116 Sky Sports, 38 BT
2016-2019 126 Sky Sports, 42 BT

And BT will be scratching their heads as to why everyone's starting to cancel. Why would anyone willingly pay for Michael Owen. What did he pay to get that gig?

Re: ESPN, BT, Euro, Premier and Sky Sports news
It's absolutely disgusting that these two companies, especially $ky, can afford to charge this extraordinary amount of money to broadcast football from the EPL, it just shows you how stupid, we, the gullible public must be.
The money that they are paying overrated footballers is ridiculous, and it's the poor old public, who want to watch the games on TV who are footing the bill for these guys to lead a life of outstanding luxury.
Shame on $ky & BT, if you increase my payments you can stick it up your arse!

The sums are huge aren't they , as already been said on here its the customer who'll foot the bill and sadly not always the sports customers I feel , I'm sure some of these increases go on things like line rental and basic TV packs but what do I know.

Re: ESPN, BT, Euro, Premier and Sky Sports news
So do SKY and BT have more or less top picks than they had last time? Really surprised by BT. Really thought they'd pull off a shock of sorts this time around. I can see both companies putting prices up I can see BT Sports getting real costly over the next 18 months.

Re: ESPN, BT, Euro, Premier and Sky Sports news
BT are foolish - if they are considering charging for the season 16/17 onwards with roughly the same number of games albeit with CL football too, I can't see people will be willing to shell out extra after subscribing to Sky.
They should have taken at least half the packages to level out the playing field between the two and this would have been the only way for prices to stay the same come the new season. It's going to cost them as although CL is a lot more glitzy, how many PL teams actually take part in it - 4 at the most. Compare this to the 20 actually in the league.
I can see Virgin will lose BT and we will have to pay come next season. BT Sports will still be free for BT BB subscribers (or a nominal fee) which could tempt people across.

I wonder how much sports subscribers are going to have to cough up now?

There won't suddenly be an uplift of £7 to Sky Sports or anything like that - the usual annual gradual price increases spread across other areas eg line rental will continue. There may also be some savings that Sky can make elsewhere as a result of the merger with the other Sky companies.

Re: ESPN, BT, Euro, Premier and Sky Sports news
What bugs me the most is the fact that Premiership Rugby may lose out on their TV fan base due to football now being shown on a Friday night. BT Scupper Sky by nabbing rugby rights on a Friday night, and all of a sudden Sky get rights to a newly created Friday night football service. Odd coincidence? I think not.
