Question Domain registrar recommendation

Hi there,

Currently use Domain Monster for registering domain names but am looking to use someone else.

They failed to renew one of my domains and from what I can see it now belongs to them, possible holding it.

Problem is it is impossible to get any support from them. I used the support form on their website on Friday and as yet no response.
I spent 2 and a half hours waiting on the phone this morning, also being cut off twice.

So I'm after some recommendations for who to move to.

Thanks, Mike

Re: Domain registrar recommendation

I've used https://www.lcn.com/ for years.

Never had an issue and easily managed to use their online tools to update my domain to work with Google Apps when I moved to it for Mail.

Did you have Auto-Renew on ?
Did you ignore all the e-mails they send you ?

I have domains with them, and I always get mutiple e-mails when they are getting close to renewal time.

They also have an auto-renew option (which I dont rely on, but its useful).

Hi Paul,
Yes, auto-renew was on, and worked for the past 5 years or so.

I received no emails about this particular domain, and there are no messages about it in the "Your communications" section of their website, so their systems completely missed it for some reason.

I do receive emails about other domains expiring I have with them, and did for this one in previous years.

Anyway I have finally had a response to my ticket raised on Friday, the domain has been renewed and is showing in my control panel, but is pending, I guess the registration needs to go back through to me, oddly it shows as expiring in July 2017.

Did see on Twitter a number of people complaining of zero support from Domain Monsters lately, wonder if 123-reg are winding it down?

Re: Domain registrar recommendation

If it’s been hassle-free until now, I’d suspect some aspect of the business merger has likely caused your problems.

I have only ever used 123-reg, though I’ve never used auto renew (never trusted anyone to have an ongoing payment authority on my PayPal account as it’s connect to my bank). They’ve never given me any bother.
