You have to (well you don’t if you don’t want to) caveat the phrase Climate change with man made climate change.
And even then you have to look at where we should concentrate efforts.
I agree my 5.0 V8 Mustang is not very environmentally friendly, but I pay a shitload of tax for my sins, how much tax do the people burning down the Amazon pay? Probably none, and why should they? Cos they’re skint.
But taxing me into oblivion will not stop them burning the Amazon, and they’re doing much more damage than me.
Anything we can do to reduce our impact on climate change must be done, no question.
But climate change has become an ideology more than a science....in regards to popular culture, as opposed to actual scientists.

Re: U.S Election 2020
“Catastrophic Anthropogenic Global Warming” is the latest phrase I think.
Unfortunately the issue was long ago co-opted by all the usual crusties, hippies and luddites who dislike technology and progress on principle. For them it’s validation of a viewpoint they’d have held regardless. 40 years ago they were all on the “oil’s running out and it’ll be gone in 40 years” bandwagon (which it obviously isn’t - all we’ve done so far is extract the easy stuff. There’s plenty more to be found and more than enough to meet our needs especially as we’re now starting to make serious efforts to stop burning it). These people as a rule are way out on the loony left, making it harder even for many of those on the moderate right to find common cause with them. I suspect CAGW would be a lot less controversial if the baggy pullovers from Greenpeace didn’t carry on like they own it.

JOINT STATEMENT FROM ELECTIONS INFRASTRUCTURE GOVERNMENT COORDINATING COUNCIL & THE ELECTION INFRASTRUCTURE SECTOR COORDINATING EXECUTIVE COMMITTEES
WASHINGTON – The members of Election Infrastructure Government Coordinating Council (GCC) Executive Committee – Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) Assistant Director Bob Kolasky, U.S. Election Assistance Commission Chair Benjamin Hovland, National Association of Secretaries of State (NASS) President Maggie Toulouse Oliver, National Association of State Election Directors (NASED) President Lori Augino, and Escambia County (Florida) Supervisor of Elections David Stafford – and the members of the Election Infrastructure Sector Coordinating Council (SCC) – Chair Brian Hancock (Unisyn Voting Solutions), Vice Chair Sam Derheimer (Hart InterCivic), Chris Wlaschin (Election Systems & Software), Ericka Haas (Electronic Registration Information Center), and Maria Bianchi (Democracy Works) - released the following statement:
“The November 3rd election was the most secure in American history. Right now, across the country, election officials are reviewing and double checking the entire election process prior to finalizing the result.
“When states have close elections, many will recount ballots. All of the states with close results in the 2020 presidential race have paper records of each vote, allowing the ability to go back and count each ballot if necessary. This is an added benefit for security and resilience. This process allows for the identification and correction of any mistakes or errors. There is no evidence that any voting system deleted or lost votes, changed votes, or was in any way compromised.
“Other security measures like pre-election testing, state certification of voting equipment, and the U.S. Election Assistance Commission’s (EAC) certification of voting equipment help to build additional confidence in the voting systems used in 2020.
“While we know there are many unfounded claims and opportunities for misinformation about the process of our elections, we can assure you we have the utmost confidence in the security and integrity of our elections, and you should too. When you have questions, turn to elections officials as trusted voices as they administer elections.”

The person charge of CISA (Chris Krebs) was appointed by Trump.

Christopher Krebs serves as the first director of the Department of Homeland Security’s Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA). Mr. Krebs was originally sworn in on June 15, 2018 as the Under Secretary for the predecessor of CISA, the National Protection and Programs Directorate (NPPD). Mr. Krebs was nominated for that position by President Trump in February 2018.

Trump still loses but he had extra time to milk more money from his supporters.

Indeed.

These ballots had been segregated pending the judge’s decision and have not yet been counted, so their disqualification will not affect the current vote count in Pennsylvania

Good win. Could also be called disenfranchisement.
Quote:
State law requires all voters who applied to vote by mail to have their identification validated against state records by Nov. 9. However, just before the election, Secretary of State Kathy Boockvar pushed that date back by three days, citing a court decision earlier this year that allowed late-arriving mail ballots to be counted as long as they had been mailed by Nov. 3 and received within three days of that date.

In what’s expected to be the final ruling on the matter, the Texas Supreme Court has upheld Gov. Greg Abbott’s order limiting Texas counties to only one drop-off location for voters to hand deliver their absentee ballots during the pandemic.
The ruling, issued Tuesday by the all-Republican court, is the final outcome in one of a handful of lawsuits in state and federal courts that challenged Abbott’s order from early this month.

This meant Harris County (population 4.7 million) and Travis County (population 1.3 million) had 1 drop off point each, just like Loving County (population !84) and King County (population 253).
Guess which way Harris and Travis normally vote?
