trying to connect xp and vista machines together.

Hi,

I'm having difficulties trying to file share between xp and vista.

I currently trying to connect from my vista machine to my xp machine.
This is my current setup

vista laptop (wireless) ----->Router------>XP PC(wireless)

I can see the XP pc but it will not let me see the files/folders it just says the folder is unaccessible.

But if I can my settings to

vista laptop(wired) ---->router----->Xp PC(wireless)

Then everything seems to work any ideas?

Re: trying to connect xp and vista machines together.

Have you gone on the set up a home or small office network wizard on the xp pc and made sure that the workgroup name is the same on both the pc and the laptop?

This might be a firewall issue. Check your firewall on the Vista machine to see if the wireless adapter is part of the 'trusted zone'

Re: trying to connect xp and vista machines together.

Hi Ben,

I did double check that the workgroup name was exactly the same.
I will try Daniels suggestion a bit later.
