TP-Link TL-PA211KIT 200Mbps PowerLine Adapter Kit

Do these power line kits run in houses if the ring main from room to room is on a different circuit or do they need to be on same ring main

I've run some Devolo ones on different ring mains, but they struggled to give much more than ~30Mb throughput eventhough they 'connected' at around 130Mb. In an average sized property a none VM branded router will give better performance

I would stream media from pc to laptop via homeplug to router and then wireless to laptop, so yes as long as sharing etc is set then copying files works OK

Not quite with you there.
My main pc ( desktop not laptop) in office is connected via ethernet to router, The PC upstairs then gets wireless signal (or lack of) from the router downstairs.

Trying to work a route to get an ethernet cable up there ( now i have finished all the building work!!!!!) DOH!!
