If I change my ip to anything other than what the pc want's to give me automatically I have no access to anything.

If I leave it on automatically assign ip then I have internet access but I can no longer get into my router. By that I mean that I just get just an expired page reading or redirected to a search engine explaining that 192.168.0.1 is usually a router address.

Any help would be greatly appreciated peeps
IIRC the default router IP address after installing DD-WRT is 192.168.1.1 not 192.168.0.1. See if you can access the router using that.

If that doesn't work open a command prompt window, type ipconfig /all and press Enter. Look for the "Default Gateway" entry in the list that gets returned.

1 time only can only hope to improve
Re: Dlink DIR-615 Firmware Update D2

That worked perfect pal

However after giving a username as "admin" and no password for the moment I now get a security box asking for pw username and password. But when I put admin and leave the password box blank I get a 401 Unautherized page and it does the same if I leave both blank too.

Maybe I should have stuck to software and not hardware. Lol

Any ideas dude?

*Edit*

Scratch that, I just did a hard reset and all is good.

Thankyou Ed2020 for your help

For reference, here is the link to the original VM firmware for the D-Link DIR-615 D2 (v1.00VG):

Question Re: Dlink DIR-615 Firmware Update D2

Does anybody know where I can find a DIR-615 rev. D D-Link firmware that will allow me to disable CTS Mode?

Re: Dlink DIR-615 Firmware Update D2

DD-WRT didn't cure the problems I was having, so I've gone back to D-Link's firmware to see how that goes for a while.

Re: Dlink DIR-615 Firmware Update D2

A new build has been released and is recommended in DD-WRT's router database for the DIR-615 D2. It's build 14311.

http://www.dd-wrt.com/site/support/router-database

I've noticed something odd with build 14311 and the DHCP feature though.

I've got my DHCP server to start at a certain range and allow five DHCP addresses with a lease of 720 minutes (12 hours) and the router reboots everyday at 5am, but the last couple of days I've noticed my laptop keeps getting allocated the next address along, even though all previous leases have expired / been released, so for example it was 111.111.1.1 a few days ago, then I noticed it was 111.111.1.2 a couple of days ago and yesterday it was 111.111.1.3. My laptop is the first wireless DHCP device that gets connected to the router when I get in from work.

Re: Dlink DIR-615 Firmware Update D2

be careful flashing flashing the DIR-615 to 14311.

I tried this to cure my wireless dropping on my 615 and afterwards it wouldnt allow me at all to connect at N speeds only G speeds. i have posted this fact on the forum and a few others have contacted me with identical issues through the forum.

Re: Dlink DIR-615 Firmware Update D2

I have decided for now to stick with this firmware (the original one posted on this forum 13435), the performance has turned out fine and stable. I am a bit concerned about all the poor wireless reports (with all the firmware versions) but luckily the router is directly below my laptop so at least in the short term I will be able to use a fully wired network.

Re: Dlink DIR-615 Firmware Update D2

Using D-Link firmware I get an excellent signal throughout the entire house with the router's signal strength set to the lowest option, which is 12.5% if I remember correctly. There are multiple wireless G devices on at once too.
