A516digital on Twitter just brought this DTG article to my attention. I'm sure it will be of interest to those of you with 4K / UHD screens, especially those who seemed to get differing picture quality results during the UHD tests over the summer.

Sound bars and copy protection aren't the most obvious factors to consider.

That's a very interesting article, I'm glad that I haven't yet invested in a soundbar!

Virgin have been advising about that for a while now, and in particular about audio kit:
https://help.virginmedia.com/system/...rgin-TV-V6-box

Quote:
HD and 4K Ultra HD programmes are protected using High Definition Copy Protection (HDCP).

New 4K Ultra HD kit uses HDCP 2.2. HD kit and some older 4K Ultra HD kit only support older versions of HDCP. When HDCP versions are mixed, especially on audio systems, it can cause picture and audio loss and other errors.

Only kit that supports HDCP 2.2 will be able to show programmes in 4K Ultra HD format from the Virgin TV V6 box.

Re: Sound bars and copy protection can result in UHD picture downgrade

I had that issue with my 6-7 year old soundbar connecting with HDMI - using an optical cable resolved it.
