TiVo hard drive fail and new V6

Hi guys. My TiVo hard drive has just died after many years of service so I ring VM and after lots of questions they agree it needs replacing. I then ask if the replacement will be a V6 which I assumed it would be and the answer was no because I have a superhub 2 (not the ac version). I said to the person I'm sure my modem can cope and she replied it cannot! I don't want the modem changed because my son plays competitive gaming. I have now requested an engineer to install the replacement because I don't believe the person I was dealing with. Can anyone confirm the V6 will run with a superhub 2?

FWIW my two V6s have been running faultlessly since day one with a superhub 2.

Are they both connected via wi-fi? As mine will need to be.

Re: TiVo hard drive fail and new V6

Yes, V6 will work with the SH2. Even so, you aren't guaranteed to get a V6. As you have a faulty TiVo, you could get another TiVo to replace it. Also, having two V6s on Wi-Fi, on any kind of SuperHub, isn't recommended,

So what are you supposed to do then if you have more than one V6 ? As you could only have one connected directly to the superhub, buy homeplugs?

I would have thought the way VM are pushing the V6's and offering them with no set up fee they would do it automatically as a swap.

VM will generally provide homeplugs if you need them.

Re: TiVo hard drive fail and new V6

Service Techs will give you a v6. If you get a box posted they send an old Tivo.

Both can work with a sh2 over wifi but multiroom streaming probably wont work.

You can get powerlines from the tech in this situation to enable MRS

Only the V6 has WiFi though, not the original Tivo.

Re: TiVo hard drive fail and new V6

I have 2 x V6 both ran on superhub 2 with an asus router doing the wifi with multi room streaming. No problems whatsover. I had to get a superhub 3 when they upped my broadband to the vivid 300. Stuck it into modem mode and again used the asus in wifi. Again no issues.

Sometimes you get lucky but I've been sent out in many occasions to fix v401 error when mulitiroom streaming doesn't work and the solution is to install powerline

Re: TiVo hard drive fail and new V6

I have 2 TiVos connected to my router via Homeplugs, and a V6 connected via cable to a SH3.

I have no issues, other than not being able to remotely view programmes.

Sounds like your homeplugs are too slow, try a speedtest via the help menu
