2 pcs on our work network simply won't connect to the internet
At the moment we have:
7x client XP SP2 clients
1x Server 2003 standard
running on a domain through an ADSL router and switch.
All log onto and communicate through the network fine.
However, 2 of them just won't connect to the net.
They will connect to the router and can ping websites.
Any ideas why the browser won't work?
Cheers.

Do the IE settings match on the PCs that can connect and those that can't? In IE tools > Internet Options > Connections

Also check user / client permissions from any user / group / computer policies set on the server, that will apply to the PCs. Presumably your PCs are Windows XP Pro SP2, as opposed to XP home.

When you say they "won't connect to the net", exactly what errors are they getting? If they can ping successfully then you've established a connection, so I'd imagine it's something to do with the IE config.

Will investigate. It's just the standard text on white background error.

All the IE, network and firewall settings are the same on every machine in the office.
FIrefox doesn't connect and neither will any program update from the internet.
Driving me crazy now!

With Internet Explorer are you getting
"Page Cannot Be Displayed"
"Page Cannot Be Found"
or "No connection to the internet is available" ?

What level is the firewall, at router i assume, I guess they can ping domain names and not just ip addys.
What happens if you type a ip addres direct into the address bar 129.42.19.99 (IBM) for example?
