vBulletin sues ex-devs over 'from scratch' competitor

Internet forumware giant vBulletin has sued three former employees, a day before they were due to launch a competing forum-software platform via their new company, the UK-based XenForo.

One to keep an eye on maybe, as this forum uses vBulletin. At least possibly to see if the new kid on the block, or other alternatives to VB are worth using.

Re: vBulletin sues ex-Devs

Well, in this case the beta is written by the original authors of vBulletin so perhaps they have a better track record than many new producers. However I'm sure there will be a few little glitches all the same.

I was referring to the release versions. Patch tuesday on a weekly basis, etc etc,
If a product other than antivirus was updated weekly you would class it as a beta, normally the idea is to get rid of the glitches / bugs before release, then have a stable working version in the field. MS release a work in progress, then patch it ad nauseam until they are ready to release the next beta. Check how many 'security patches' are on your windows machines to see what I mean.

My tuppence worth....

That being the case then Ubuntu is no better.... I am currently receiving patches and updates for my installation of 10.04 64bit approx 2-3 times per week...

and no I am not using it at home... I am using it at work as my only operating system....

granted it is running better than Windows but it has its disadvantages as well..
