Help setting up Netgear wpn824 with VM BB

I would really apprecaite some help!

I'm trying to setup my new Netgear WPN824 with VMBB. I don't have an install CD but you can access the installation wizard via a browser. However, when I try and go through this it won't detect an internet connection. This router is to replace the current Linksys that I have atm.

I wondering if some of the problems are to do with having already used my pc to setup a wireless router before, could this be confusing matters? Should I reboot the modem? Also in the setup process it gives an option for a MAC address, should I use the MAC add of the Modem?

AFAIK you don't need to enter username etc also I have set it to detect IP and DNS automatically, is this correct?

Please help!!

Thanks

Re: Help setting up Netgear wpn824 with VM BB

Are you on cable or BB
If you are on Cable have you power cycled the modem ?
If you are on ADSL does your modem train to the line ?

Also, is the router V1 or V2

Sorry, I am on Cable.

What does Power Cycle means as it did prompt me about this and I didn't know what it meant?

I believe the router is a V1

Re: Help setting up Netgear wpn824 with VM BB

I think if i remember rightly that by putting a new router into the equasion that would be chnging the MAC (at least, reading other posts) and would therefore constitute a change in IP

I'm sure someone will correct me if I am wrong however

I own a different netgear router but I can vary the signal strength to different parts of the house by repositioning it's antenna at different angles....
