Remotes
Hello.
I have two Tivo boxes, a remote for each, plus a spare remote (bought from eBay).
Is there a way of pairing a remote to a Tivo - only one works with my 'main' box, although the other two also work, but with the odd function missing (no volume control, for example)?
Reason for the question is that my 'main' remote is getting very weak (changed batteries, cleaned it, cleaned front of Tivo box), and I'd like to use one of my other remotes instead.
thanks.
Allen.

Re: Remotes
You need to programme the remote to control the volume on your TV. You can use the Programme Your Remote application in the Help section on the TiVo set it up.
Or see the "Control your TV with your Virgin TV remote" instructions for your TiVo box here:

Re: Remotes
As far as I can see you follow the instructions shown under Virgin TV V6, powered by TIVO/Remote Pairing on the following link.

Re: Remotes
Thanks spiderplant, joglynne. and nomadking... I'll see if I can make sense of Virgin's instructions!

Coming unstuck at the first hurdle!
I've got a 1Tb Tivo box, but can't locate any Channel Down or Channel Up buttons on the front panel. Am I looking in the wrong place? Have I got the wrong sort of Tivo box?
I've tried my Tivo guide, but the annotated photos in the back of that don't mention channel up/down buttons either.
(I need these buttons for pairing, or so I think...)
Sorry to bother you again.
And now another missing item... the pairing talks about holding down the 'star' button on my Tivo remote. I ain't got a star button on my remote, nor again is there one listed in my Tivo guide remote page.

Re: Remotes
If you have a TiVo box you don't pair the remote. It's only the V6 box where pairing works.
TiVo boxes work in IR only.
If the remote won't do volume then you need to set it to control your TV directly using the instructions here https://www.virginmedia.com/help/vir...tv-remote#tab2

Re: Remotes
If you really mean the old TiVo boxes and not the V6 - then you'll need to get a US Bluetooth remote if you are using more than one box in the same range.
But the old remotes just work (or not) - there is no pairing except for the tv controls.
You can still pick them up - I use one here.

Re: Remotes
Thanks BenMcr, followed the link, got the remote working (process a bit clunky, but that's Virgin/Tivo for you).
Thanks again.
