Unhappy Terrence Dicks RIP

Now this is sad.

Quote:
British author Terrance Dicks, best known for his long association with Doctor Who, has died at the age of 84.
Dicks worked as script editor on more than 150 episodes of the classic sci-fi show. He also wrote numerous episodes.

Author Jenny Colgan said he had "helped more children (especially boys) develop a lifelong love of reading than almost anyone else who's ever lived".

Re: Terrence Dicks RIP

Sad indeed, he was the script editor for my favorite Doctor Who period (Jon Pertwee era, 1970 -1974).

I've enjoyed all the Doctor Who periods (classic and new), but I think my favourites (of the classic era at least) would have to be Pertwee, Baker and Davison. I've put that in chronological order. I'd be hard pushed to pick a favourite.

That said, whatever Doctor he wrote for, Terrence Dicks was, IMO, one of the best writers for the original series.

Re: Terrence Dicks RIP

In the days before mass availability of VHS tapes, Target novelisations were how I “knew” the doctors I hadn’t been old enough to watch on TV, and Dicks was by far my favourite of the authors.

I don’t care what anyone says, the only way to describe our favourite Time Lord is “that mysterious traveller in time and space known as the Doctor” - and the Tardis’ arrival is marked by a wheezing, groaning sound.
