In an episode of Sarah Jane the doctor mentioned he has 507 regenerations left somehow. I assume that is to be ignored?

Which means that Smith, the 12 incarnation actually came into being on the 12th regen.

We know that Capaldi is the 13th as it that made clear on the Saturday.

Which means to get to Capaldi, if we say that tennants second regen into himself was an actual regen, we need to magic a regen out of something.

That is only if that counted as an actual regeneration.

Also didn't River give the Doctor all her regenerations?

RTD said that was a joke.

I have just watched it on Iplayer and i was expecting a continuation of the Trenzalore storyline so a little disappointed in that respect but it was a good episode and opens up a host of new story possibilities with the Time War having a different outcome and Gallifrey being lost and ready for finding

Steven Moffat has said that Matt Smith is the 13th doctor, so we'll have to wait and see how they introduce number 14..

I think, in a way, it is. We know that Clara visited all of the old doctors (well, minus John Hurt) and we know that all of the doctors (including John Hurt and Peter Capaldi) helped freeze Galifrey. It's logical to assume that even if she didn't understand what she was carrying, she carried a message from Matt Smith's doctor describing the calculations needed.

Personally, I think there is a reason that Steven Moffatt suddenly included the Sisters of Karn after they'd been ignored by the program since the 4th Doctor's era..

In case anyone didn't see either the Paul McGann mini episode that was released a week or two before the 50th, or the original Tom Baker story, the Sisters of Karn maintain a sacred flame, which is used to produce the Elixir of life. Personally, I would not be surprised if they couldn't also reset a timelord's regeneration count.

I've seen two different interviews with moffat and whilst he states he is the 13th Doctor he also confirms Matt is thill the 11th Doctor in an other one am sure.

Very confusing. He is the 13th including Hurt and the failed 10 regen but if Matt is still 11 what tricky does Moffat have up his sleeve.

Oh well bring on Christmas Day :-)
