Nintendo cuts £50 off GameCube

http://www.ananova.com/business/stor...409.html?menu=

Nintendo is cutting around £50 off the price of its GameCube console.

Shops in the UK are expected to reduce the price from £129 to an estimated £79 from October 10.

It comes days after Sony cut the price of its best-selling PlayStation 2 console from £169.99 to £139.99 .

Both announcements are designed to capture a share of the lucrative video games market in the run up to Christmas.

The battle for sales is a three-way split between Sony, Nintendo and Microsoft's Xbox which is currently on sale for around £129.

Nintendo will reduce the recommended retail price of the GameCube to 99 euros - just over £69 at the current exchange rate - on the Continent from October 17.

David Gosen, managing director of sales and marketing for Nintendo Europe, said the higher estimated price in UK was based on early indications from retailers.

Kronas, May I remind you we're discussing the GC here, not the PS2 or XBOX.

Any Further off topic posts will be removed, Thanks.
