Re: Is your local Radio Channel been removed on Virgin TV?

The following in the SS1 Telewest area are all still working normally:

933 - Essex (this is really now Heart Essex but Virgin still has it as Essex)
951 - Absolute Xtreme
952 - Absolute Classic Rock
958 - Capital FM
959 - Gold
961 - theJazz
963 - Invicta (this is really now Heart Kent but Virgin still has it as Invicta)
965 - XFM
969 - Choice FM
973 - LBC 97.3 FM
975 - NME

I think this area is from the Basildon headend but I don't think we've ever received 930 Pulse or Capital on 932?

Basildon (This regional head end covers Basildon, Canvey Island, Chelmsford, Crawley, Corringham, Edenbridge, Gravesend and Laindon.)

EPG. Channel Name
930. Pulse FM (?)**
932. Capital Radio**
933. Heart Essex - STILL BROADCASTING.
947. Heart Kent*

Croydon, Haringey and Hayes (These regional head ends cover Cheam, Colliers Wood, Crawley, Croydon, Hackney, Haringey, Hayes, Hounslow, Kew, Kilburn, Kingston upon Thames, Micham, Morden, Mortlake, New Addington, New Malden, Purley, Raynes Park, Richmond upon Thames, Sutton, Thornton Heath, Tolworth, Tooting, Twickenham, Wimbledon and Worcester Park.)

EPG. Channel Name
931. Capital Radio**

Perry Barr (Witton) and Wolverhampton (These regional head ends cover Dudley, Kidderminster, Redditch, Telford, Walsall, West Bromwich, Wolverhampton and parts of Birmingham.)

EPG. Channel Name
943. Beacon Radio - STILL BROADCASTING^
944. 96.4FM BRMB - STILL BROADCASTING^

* = Own by Global Radio.
^ = Own by Orion Group (Lloyds TSB Development Capital and Phil Riley).
** = Own by Global Radio but Virgin Media may move this channel.

930. BBC Radio Scotland
931. BBC Radio Wales
932. BBC Radio Ulster
934. BBC Radio nan GĂ*idheal

Yeah that's what I thought but as Ch. 963 (Invicta) is also a local station I thought I'd include the others near it to be safe. Strange why this one is outside the local range?

Re: Has your local radio channel been removed from Virgin TV?

Virgin Media probably assume that everyone has access to Freeview, therefore they can save on bandwith and close them down thinking that people won't notice.

There are also very few regional TV channels on Digital TV as well and they are as follows:

Channel 7: Available on Virgin TV Analogue and now Digital in a small part of the North East.

Channel M: Available on Virgin TV on Manchester's ex Nynex/NTL/Cable and Wireless franchise, Freeview in the North West region and nationally on Sky Digital.

With regards to Radio stations on Virgin TV, i'm on the Cable London franchise which is an ex-Telewest area covering Camden,Islington,Hackney,Harringey and Enfield and all of the above London stations are still there.

Re: Has your local radio channel been removed from Virgin TV?

For me channel 933 was Real Radio Scotland and very late at night when there was nothing to watch on tv we'd usually turn it to Real Radio while we were at our comps. Gutted they've turned it off as I don't actually have a radio in my house.

I know I can stream it but I usually have my sound muted on the comp as I hate all the click click noises when I'm browsing or doing stuff on the comp.

Re: Has your local radio channel been removed from Virgin TV?

The message suggests that it was the broadcaster who removed them rather than VM?

Does anyone with satellite/Sky have the loss of local radio? Can't remeber if these were on Sky when I had it years ago?

here in Liverpool we have lost CityFM & RockFM with the same on screen message.
