Sky not working in new room

Hi, so I got a dream box for the sitting room, so moved my sky+hd box to the bedroom. To move it I ran two new coax cables from the dish which has a quad lnb, to the sky box. The sky box isn't working also tried the dream box, which also isn't working, so I'm assuming a cable problem but cannot figure it out. To my knowledge I've done everything right. Any help is greatly appreciated...

Re: Sky not working in new room

What cable did you use? How did you fix the f-connectors on the end? Did you use single runs of cable or did you connect shorter lengths together? Did you ensure that none of the outer copper braid is in contact with the inner conductor of your coax cable? Etc.

Please describe what you did, in as much detail as possible.

Also, how long have the spare terminals on your LNB been unused, and while out of use were they protected from the elements in any way?

Re: Sky not working in new room

I used two single runs, the LNB protected and I swapped over the cables on dish. I think it was messy terminating. To be honest as the copper mesh is wrapped round the protective inner sheath. If that makes sense I will try re-terminating them tomarrow and let you know if the issue is resolved thank you. I maybe thought that was the problem earlier but didn't think it mattered how the f-type connector was terminated but obviously it does.

Re: Sky not working in new room

Braid left in contact with the conductor would be the most likely explanation, but if you've done that on both cables, then that's an exceptionally messy job. Have a look and let us know.
