Switch old chap, it really is very easy. If you're on a standard tariff your savings could be significant. If you don't want a rise get a fixed tariff. I use energyhelpline.com as a good guide.

Ban all these stupid tarrif's... it is the same gas and lecy that is delivered to everyone. Eventually there will be hardly any difference between the energy suppliers. Nice plan Mrs Thatcher PRIVATISATION really works.

The best I can find, using kwh and daily rates for standing charges, would save me £7 p.a., and cost £50 per fuel to get out of the 1 year contract. Not attractive at all.

Millions could pay more for energy under price cap tweak.

The plan would ease the financial burden on energy companies by including more of the costs faced by suppliers, but will raise bills for homes using prepayment meters, which are typically more vulnerable.
A CMA spokesperson said the proposal “strikes the right balance between protecting vulnerable consumers and ensuring energy suppliers are still able to operate and compete”.
