Virgin Mobile in Tuscany

On a recent trip to Tuscany (Florence, The Mugello and Pisa) my Virgin Mobile made NO connection other than "Emergency Calls Only". Do they lack roaming contacts in the area, or what? Has this happened to anyone else travelling in such a major area?

Re: Virgin Mobile in Tuscany

Quite possibly, but you may have to get Virgin to take the roaming bar off of the phone if you haven't already

Would be one on without one having asked for it?

Re: Virgin Mobile in Tuscany

Freedom (got cable/broadband too so got the combined deal), if you know it, which is kind of a bit of both. I called 789 tonight but the message on their system is less than clear. I'll have to ring them when I have time.

It's annoying 'cause when I was on simple pay as you go and went abroad it just worked...

Re: Virgin Mobile in Tuscany

Spoke with them and they were not helpful. Said my roaming IS switched on, and that my phone should be compatible. However they do NOT guarantee connection and say one should call them every time one is going abroad. What a pain...

Re: Virgin Mobile in Tuscany

it is a pain, you dont expect to have to tell them where and when you are going, but for security.. well I think telling them once ought to be enough.
