Odd problem using HUAWEI (E160) dongle

Hi all,

This problem seems quite perplexing to myself however some of you may find it elementry.

I recieved said dongle (e160) and as per instructions plugged it into my netbook (asus eeepc 701 running xp sp3), installation of the hardware began and after a minute or so i received this message:

Cannot install this Hardware

There was a problem installing this hardware:

HUAWEI Mobile Connect - 3G Modem

An error occured during the installation of the device

The required section was not found in the INF

Click finish to close the wizard......................

All well and good, at first i thought faulty/corrupt data but to be sure i tried it on a second machine (asus 904ha running xp sp3).

worked flawlessly.

Virgin mobile (provider) wont give me anymore support in getting it to play ball with the 701 because the dongle is working as intended which is fair.

Bottom line is, has anyone got the foggiest idea why this is happening and ideally can anyone point me in the direction to sort it.

Thanks for any input.
