Re: 2019 boxoffice stats

The list is a bit arbitrary at this point. Films that came out 6 months ago aren’t competing on equal terms with those that were only released in time for Christmas. A more interesting table would be one that compares like for like, for example the first 2 months takings or somesuch (which still wouldn’t give an equivalent comparison for Star Wars until next month).

Nice to see "Yesterday" doing so well, on a production budget of $26 million (of which $10 million was for the rights to use the Beatles song).

I cant remember what the technical term is for it within the industry but they do do that because it is obviously unfair to compare what appears to be gross earnings for the year with something which has been released Christmas week and only had one week at the cinema against something which had a full run of 8 weeks over summer.

I didn't think it was going to manage it but TROS might actually hit $1bn. It is currently sat at $956 so this weekend and next weekends revenue might just get it there.

2020 End of Year Boxoffice Stats

On the last day of the year I thought we could have a good chuckle. Although I didn't think this year's roster was particularly strong it is still a sad state of affairs. I was really looking forward to Eternals, Black Widow, Ghostbusters, Free Guy, Top Gun and Fast 9. I have only seen a few new films this year and the best by far was Mulan.

Re: 2019 boxoffice stats

That list is crazy, in any other year a majority of them probably wouldn't be in top 50;
