Help with Telephone Wiring Mess!

Moderators, relocate thread if not posted in the right area.

I'm looking for some help from anyone who is experienced with phone line connections, I have recently acquired this property and the phone wiring is in an absolute state, I am wanting to minimise as much of it as possible, I intend to take out a Sky package and I'm not 100% sure what connections they will use.

From the outside there is some green trunking, with a thick coaxial cable and thin phone line in it, from tracing the coaxial wire it looks like it goes to a Virgin Media outlet inside the house. The thin phone line runs to a Virgin Media telephone socket, which splices into another telephone socket.

next to the green trunking another line runs up from the ground, this goes into a small grey box and then runs via a thin telephone line into the house and to a BT Openreach telephone socket.

How much of this could I get rid of if I just wanted a Sky telephone / internet package? any input would be highly appreciated!

Thanks in advance.

Re: Help with Telephone Wiring Mess!

Sky use the Openreach network to deliver services so anything with Virgin Media on it can be removed.

Re: Help with Telephone Wiring Mess!

What a mess, the brown part outside is virgin, the thin part of the wire and can be removed as virgin no longer use traditional copper cable.

The grey part is openrech, this is required for all other providers, it looks like openreach has stolen the hole for virgin
