Low End Router.
Hi Guys.
I'm looking for the best options for a low end router to use as an extender\AP to extend a friends internet up his garden wirelessly.
He has Virgin Media 200mb and we know he's not gonna get full speed up in his shed but all he wants to use it for is reading on his kindle or research on his laptop.
So far the 2 routers i've seen are..........
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Archer-C6-W...3855122&sr=8-5
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Archer-C120...855122&sr=8-10
Will these routers be ok? if not can anyone suggest another, he has budgeted around £50 for the router.

Re: Low End Router.
If the shed has power you could get powerline adaptors, this would enable you to wire connect the laptop, you could one that supports wifi.

I would take that hands down over anything else and I have got one downstairs purely for this reason in access point mode to extend the wifi.

Re: Low End Router.
Id rather use a low end router than powerline adapters.
They tend to give a better signal and have more options.

Shouldn't it be what your friend would rather do?

He relies on me for decisions like this as he knows next to nothing about I.T and has been led down some expensive paths in the past that were not needed by these people u ring in the newspaper.

Re: Low End Router.
Alan, I’ve just bought https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/...?ie=UTF8&psc=1
To use as an AP, works well and well under £50
This was to replace Powerline adapters which ground to a halt in the evenings when there was load on the house ring main

I'd hazard a guess he relies on the people on this forum for decisions by proxy! We've all seen some of the questions from yourself over the years! Someone who knows about IT wouldn't need to ask them.
