I thought a buffalo was similar to a bison, except you wouldn't wash your hands in a buffalo.

I expect that they would have the grace to transfer deferred tax charges to anywhere that you might choose to live in future.
I don't think they will pay me monthly and if they tried i would take them to the small claims court, i wont wait 18 months or so to get my money back.

I have Googled it and i have found other councils pay the money back via debit card in 1 lump sum so i am guessing they will do the same. Hopefully i will find out in a few weeks time.

Edit, just found this: http://www.unclaimedfinances.co.uk/c...uncil-tax.html
Might be worth investigating.
Thanks for the info, link saved.

Have you called your Council? Get the name of who you speak to. Ask for written confirmation of their response.

Here's hoping it's sorted out quickly

Re: The Happy Thought Thread Part 4

When I got my council tax reassessed to a lower band C-B it was over about 8 years. The council gave me a cheque for £450 and I did not pay council tax for the rest of the year about 6 months. all in all just over £1200.

It's well worth checking your band is correct. You can find all the details how to do it here.

As a sweetener for not being able to give me full time hours my employer provides me with free health insurance which until this week I didn't realise covers most optical costs.

So I went along to Specsavers today and chose 2 pairs of glasses for free, Quicksilver and Tommy Hilfiger

Re: The Happy Thought Thread Part 4

I didn't see any meteors tonight even though the sky was cloudless and the moon was a mere sliver - but...

I did go and see Alan Davies performing stand-up comedy locally. He was a lot better than his tour reviews had led me to believe.

2 hours flew by. Brilliant off-the-cuff stuff - he was totally on-the-ball; and at ease. He made a lot of comedy from his random interaction/reaction with the audience. So engaging.

I wasn't exactly in stitches all evening though.

There's always tonight Caff, the leonids are about all weekend. I like Alan but I've heard he does his stand up absolutely slaughtered.

Re: The Happy Thought Thread Part 4

Ben the cat who came to stay with us about a month ago has aged me considerably this morning. John and I have worked hard with him since he arrived scared and traumatised so to-day we decided that he was ready to be allowed to explore the great outdoors. He was a tad overwhelmed to begin with, stuck close to me as I cleared some leaves from our gravel garden, became a little more confident when he spotted a squirrel, then took off running. Over our fence, over our neighbours fence and out of sight.

We knew we had to let him run free but the two hours he was out of sight were horrible.

Well he is back with us and sleeping off the largest lunch he has so far eaten so I guess we are now his family .... and .... I can't stop smiling. Riley certainly sent us a little smasher to fill the huge gap his dying made in our hearts.

Re: The Happy Thought Thread Part 4

Pleased for you, I'm certainly more a cat person than a dog person. Although not keen on the long haired cats, they tend to aggravate my hay fever and asthma. My favourite is the black and white variety, although the tabby cats are also a favourite. I love the Sheba adverts as well, the silver tabby is very cute.
