Went down the supernarket earlier, noticed there wasn't any soap of any kind to be had. Shelves completely empty. Hope someone isn't buying it all up to flog on at a profit...
Also seems to be a rush on toilet roll for some strange reason. Come armageddon it's nice to have but wouldn't be no 1 on my list.

You can use the Guardian it's not much good for anything else.

Northampton General Hospital is asking for the public to "respect" their efforts to keep patients safe in the face of residents reportedly stealing hand sanitiser from wards.
The Chronicle & Echo reportedly earlier today (March 6) that the hospital is facing a shortage of hand sanitiser because relatives and members of the public are stealing it from the wards.

A spokeswoman for the hospital said: "Over the past few days we’ve seen a marked increase in the number of hand gel dispensers being taken from our ward areas, including those at the end of our patients’ beds.
"Three dispensers have been ripped from walls around the site, and we’ve seen people coming to the site to fill up their dispensers from our supplies.

Well I hate to blame the media.....however....if they reported things a bit more level headed and not like this was the apocalypse, people may not panic so much.

I also think a bit more leadership from Westminster wouldn’t hurt too.

People panic as they doubt they are being told the real truth and in all honesty those in higher positions have not exactly got a great record of telling the population the full truth as we have seen in previous events.

i was in aldi this morning and a woman was bulk buying chicken soup,she was emptying it by the carton load into her trolley,i popped in to buy some biscuits.

My cousin and my brother went to a supermarket around dinnertime and it was bedlam in there were their exact words

Hmm! I guess I had a great deal of prescience in keeping all those Christmas and birthday gift soaps over the years.Should last us at least 6 months.

I just wish everyone would just turn the news off and go and do something a little less boring outside the house like a good long walk in the fresh air.

To be fair a supermarket is never a good place to be at teatime on a Friday, with people popping in to get some bits for the weekend on their way home from work. I’d always avoid it. And sharing anecdotes like this isn’t helpful - once some people are perceived to be panic buying, in a sense it then becomes rational for other people to do it before the shelves empty.

It always comes down to confidence. It was the same with Northern Rock. A bank, or a supermarket, never has everything all its customers might demand on the premises at the time, whether it’s money or toilet rolls. Confidence that they will have enough of what people actually need, when they actually need it, is what keeps such operations afloat.

Once a lot of people start acting other than according to usual patterns of consumer activity, then the vaults run out of cash, or the shelves run out of chicken soup, or whatever, and then news of that spreads and you have a full blown panic on your hands.

I thought this virus affected the lungs and respiratory system not the rectum so why are people bulk buying toilet paper?

Because most of our toilet paper is manufactured in China and the virus has caused many workers to be off sick- so people are afraid that there will be shortages and are stocking up.

Unfortunately, this might be your last football match for a while. The Government has called a meeting with broadcasters & sports organisations on Monday to discuss the possibility of staging events behind closed doors and banning mass gatherings.
