Openreach Says “copper will run out of steam” and Calls for FTTP Support

https://www.ispreview.co.uk/index.ph...p-support.html

Quote:
Openreach’s (BT) Chairman, Mike McTighe, has told the Broadband World Forum that “we are getting to the point where the copper will run out of steam” and there’s a need to focus on “full fibre” (FTTP/H), but he warned that this could only be done with ISP support and “increases in wholesale pricing.”
This should focus minds at VM / Liberty with regards to getting the higher upload speed work finished, along with the 500Mb+ preparations.

Openreach demands higher broadband prices for ultrafast upgrades.

BT's network arm Openreach has warned that a multibillion-pound investment in broadband upgrades hinges on higher prices.

The company unveiled the results of an industry consultation, saying it needed to spread the £3bn to £6bn cost of new ultrafast fibre-optic lines for 10 million homes across the broadband market.

We spend about £14bn on overseas aid, so why not cut that in half and provide the country with proper broadband.

Because quite a lot of people would die if we did that, and we're a nice caring country ?

Looking forward to finally upgrading this connection to at least the minimum 10Mbit/s. Preferably at least a few months before February 4250 rolls around...

You mean like the caring country that insists a friend of mine has an assessment that he is not fit to work every six months, despite having a condition which has been determined as medically untreatable & leaves him permanently housebound.

What about tests like this for the people we are giving money too abroad!

They have volunteers who do the bulk of the work for them at no cost.
