Virgin STB + Router

I have a Virgin STB downstairs and a broadband Router upstairs. Both are fed by a cable which runs into the house into each room, and then from a panel on the wall. I want to connect my router to my PC which I will move downstairs next to the HD TV. Can I simply use an LNB splitter on the cable between the wall panel and STB?, or is it a different signal for each box (STB/Router)?

I want to leave the upstairs set up intact in case I get another PC. I understand I will have to bring the router downstairs.

What router do you have? I know of no router that can be attached to a cable for virgin.

Re: Virgin STB + Router

Reckon chrisswan24 is calling the cable modem a 'broadband router'?

Thanks ceedee, you are probably right. I am referring to the box that Virgin supplied that sits between the cable and the PC. I apologise for the termanology. Anyway, any ideas?

Re: Virgin STB + Router

The answer is yes! I bought a Sattelite splitter from ScrewFix, together with some F connectors, mad up a couple of leads with some old coax and hey presto! it worked.

Thanks for you help Stuart C, it was invaluable. I don't know what I would have done without it.
