My son has said this isn't his ideal job due to location but and he only applied to test the water and he certainly did not expect a yes back due to his lack of experience but what he does not realise is that there are companies out there who are willing to take the risk on the starting salary which I must say is fantastic.

I'm so glad I sent him the link for the job and his father and I managed to persuade him to apply for it as we could see this as a great opportunity if he got it and getting a interview alone has been a fantastic confidence booster for him maybe now he will see his qualifications alone could make him a candidate for the job, after all in this life if you don't try you don't get.

I really hope he gets this job despite the fact it's in Edinburgh it would be a job for life if he chooses it plus there could be a chance of job transfer to a different location should one arise as it's with the Scottish courts.

His years of studying will now pay off for him I'm in no doubt about that!

I really could not be more proud of him.
My son's 1st real interview is today and all I ask is if you could please send positive thoughts his way at 11:30am, I know I will be.

Thank you...

Re: The Happy Thought Thread Part 4

As you know my eldest son went for his interview yesterday and I'm pleased to say, no I'm delighted to say that they phoned him this morning at 9am to offer him the job, they said they would give him until 3pm to decide, long story short he phoned them back at midday to say he would be delighted to take the job offer.

What a lucky boy he is, I mean it was his 1st interview and to have a have the job offered to you is just wow, I'm so very proud of him.

His Dad and I have been putting money aside that our son did not know about and today I told him of this money as he will need quite a few suits, ties etc so this should help him out.

I will admit I never thought he would get it due to his lack of experience and tbh I don't think our son thought he would either.

I am into my second week of my new job for a well known supermarket as a home delivery driver, next week out on my own. Fingers crossed.

Congratulations from me as well Richard. I doubt if your employers would send you out on your own if you weren't up to the job. Just be careful and double check what you are going to do. As you get more confidence I am sure you will be wondering why you needed to cross your fingers.

@ weenie. Congratulations to your young man who is a credit to his parents. If he can stand the trauma of shopping there, M&S always used to do a reasonably priced range of suits, the greatest thing about them was that they were washable and didn't look half bad. Didn't half save loads of money on dry cleaning and they wore really well. Our son hated the dang things by the time they eventually wore out.

And the M&S outlet shops are even better value - previous season’s stuff at about 2/3 to 1/2 price.

Re: The Happy Thought Thread Part 4

Had a lovely night out at my god-son’s 21st birthday bash (remember his Christening, and now he’s about to finish his B.Sc Astrophysics, how time flies) - booked an Uber, and we got a Merc E-Class; nice end to a lovely evening.

Re: The Happy Thought Thread Part 4

Hope your luck is in Den.

I've just booked a 4 night stay in a holiday park in Brixham on 7th May, nice to get away for a few days and close to home, so not too much driving for the old man. (hope the weather is kind).

Re: The Happy Thought Thread Part 4

Statistically May is the driest month of the year. It's always nice round my birthday (5th May).
