VMB 350MB - 15MB 5 Static IPs

Hi,

I am on the 350mb service with 5 static ips and I am still experiencing slow download speeds through my Draytek 2920n Router

I had an Engineer visit today and he tested the speed through his laptop directly plugged into the Hitron and the speed he was getting was around 190MB+

When I have my network setup and configured the draytek with a static ip the speed drops to about 55mb download

here is my setup example

Hitron 86.44.44.165
Draytek 86.44.44.166
IP Routed Subnet 86.44.44.167
Web Server 86.44.44.168
Spare IP 86.44.44.169

On the Draytek Internet Access I have selected static / dynamic ip

IP ADDRESS: 86.44.44.166
Subnet: 255.255.255.248
Gateway: 86.44.44.165

Routed IP subnet

IP Address: 86.44.44.167
Subnet: 255.255.255.248

(IP addresses are examples)

My Hitron Router is running the firmware of 4.5.10.173-UPC

is this the latest firmware for the hitron?

Does anybody know why the speed is slowing down that much when its in a gigabit wan port?

Any Ideas?

Thanks

Re: VMB 350MB - 15MB 5 Static IPs

I can't say for sure but looking at the specs, the 2920n has a maximum firewall throughput of 150mbps (~18-19mb/s) which would explain why you're not seeing anything like the full throughput. It's a 9 year old device trying to push speeds that it wasn't designed to handle.

If you want more speed, you need to upgrade - Draytek has a comparison table available (https://www.draytek.co.uk/products/comparison). Ideally you're looking for one of their devices that pushes either 400mbps or more which will give you headroom for the future if the service receives speed updates
