Well, the U.K. mobile operators, and the EU, don’t think it will change...

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-45064268
Quote:
Of course, just because the operators might be allowed to reintroduce roaming charges, it does not necessarily mean that they will do so.

Three has "committed to maintain the availability of roaming in the EU at no additional cost following Brexit".

Vodafone said it was too soon to assess the implications of Brexit on roaming regulation, but added it expected competition to continue to drive good value for customers and that it currently had no plans to change its roaming charges.

EE also said it had no plans to introduce charging and called on the government "to put consumers at the top of their agenda in the Brexit negotiations to help ensure that UK operators can continue to offer low prices to our customers".

And O2 said: "We currently have no plans to change our roaming services across Europe. We're engaged with the government with regards to what may happen once the UK officially leaves the EU."
So, Three, Vodafone, EE, and O2 have no plans to change it - who does that leave?

You might be wrong. Networks will balance their situation with potential losses.

You entering the realm of thinking and attributing conclusions on the basis of this worries me.

I am grateful however that it’s a demonstrable fact Virgin have capacity for more than one HD channel. It stops this forum being derailed by false statements.

Even though I provided evidence to say that the 4 big networks will not be changing anything.

Mp's are saying that these charges will likely make a return, whilst you provided evidence to the contrary.

Re: Roaming charges look set to return after Brexit.

Take a look at the link in post #1, the discussion stemmed from this scrutiny committee warning.

Enough. If this topic does not get back on track it will be closed and the persons responsible for it's closure, dealt with accordingly.

Actually, what they said was
Quote:
The government has said that UK mobile operators were not believed to have any current plans to change their approach to roaming after Brexit.

But the committee warned that this "may not be sustainable" as EU providers will be free to increase the wholesale charges they apply to British-based networks.

"There may be an incentive for them to do so, as more UK consumers holiday in the EU27 than vice-versa, and UK consumers are more inclined to use large amounts of roaming data when abroad than their European counterparts," said the report.

"If this comes to pass, higher operating costs will either have to be absorbed by mobile operators or passed on to consumers in one form or another - for example, higher wholesale roaming charges could be passed on to consumers through higher overall prices, rather than through the reintroduction of roaming charges."
So, prices may increase, but roaming charges will probably not return, according to MPs...

Re: Roaming charges look set to return after Brexit.

So it looks as though those that use this service will end up paying for it one way or another.

Still, whose to say that the companies aren't indirectly recovering their losses from no longer being able to levy roaming charges anyway.

It's good to see that the scrutiny committee was cross party as it hopefully kept out any Brexit politics from their conclusion.

Re: Roaming charges look set to return after Brexit.

Well it's still hear say right now. Annual RPI increases happen but nothing to say prices will definitely increase outside that.
