Configuring TP-LINK wireless router with Webstar Cable Modem

Guys, I am having this problem. I can't access the Internet when I am behind the wireless router.

Observations:

1) The TP Link WT340GD wireless router is accessible by ethernet. I can type http://192.168.1.1/ and I get to configure the router.

2) The router status shows that it picks up the dynamic IP address assigned by the Webstar SCIENTIFIC ATLANTA DPC 2100 series Cable Modem.

3) The DNS is automatically assigned by the ISP, and the DNS setting of computer on the ethernet is also set to automatic. (The wireless router runs the DHCP on the ethernet/WLAN)

4) My laptop picks up the network but can't access the Internet. This inspite of router being assigned the IP address by the cable modem.

5) The PC on the network also fails to connect to the Internet.

Guys, help!

Power down the modem and the router, and then power up the modem and wait for the Cable light to lock on solid, then power up the router and when it locks on you should be online.

If not you may need to pinhole reset the router and set it up from scratch.

Moldova, I have tried what you said. The problem is still there.

Can there be a problem with the ethernet cable between router and the modem? If there were any, the address shouldn't have been assigned to the router, what say you?

Okay, the problem has been resolved.

I wasn't assigning the correct MAC address to my PC (should be that of the WAN).

Everything should be Dynamic or in the case of your Network card it should be set to get an IP and DNS automatically.
