I used the chat feature (exchanging written messages) in My Virgin Media both to replace a faulty remote and a Superhub. Both were delivered within a few days at no cost.

Worth checking the contacts in the battery compartment for corrosion and/or poor connection. A VERY common problem with remotes of all types. Often just rotating the batteries with the finger puts it right.

I rang up for a replacement a couple of years ago and got VM overseas, in the middle of a party by the sound of it, took a long time to explain and arrange for such an apparently simple task.

You haven't said what the problem is with your current controller. For what it's worth both my controllers have periodically had the issue where some keys either stop sending commands or the commands aren't interpreted properly. I found taking the batteries out and holding down the remote power button for several seconds would reset the controller and get it working.

Some keys do not work., I have tried new batteries to no avail.

I contacted VM who did some checks and the TiVo box was not responding so they are sending out a replacement TiVo box which should be with me in 3 days which fine I hope that solves the problem.

You/they've probably tried this Ken, but have you tried unplugging the box then plugging back in again? A new box means you'll lose all your recordings.

If you've got broadband, and it's a TiVo you've currently got, you'll get a V6 rather than another TiVo.
