Just to check I am not misunderstanding you…
You are running an unsupported operating system which doesn’t get security updates, no anti-virus, no anti-malware, and a firewall that hasn’t been supported for nearly 15 years?
Have you considered that the reason your anti-virus was slowing things down was because your PC is virus-ridden, and it was trying to get rid of them?

Perhaps you need to jettison the Flinstones era PC and get a newer modern one with good security, not to mention more memory and storage.

See the prices for some components at the moment? Or the wait time if they can be had at a better price.
My PC is 2012 era and I've just upped the RAM to 18GB (it uses triple channel so install in banks of 3, had 6GB (3x2GB) added 12 GB (3x4GB). Would like to add a new graphics card better than current GT1030 but not at prices being asked. May look at SSD's ( a pair, one for Windoze, one for Linux ) once stable I can use the current 1TB O/S rust for more storage to pair with existing 1TB data drive or update those to newer and bigger.

Only Graphics Cards are overpriced at present. OEMS have some decent options using the Ryzen 3 4300G starting @ £339 (none gaming obviously)
The GFX price inflation is slowing down. Recently I have seen a 3600TI at MRRP and today on HUKD there is a 3070 TI founders edition for £560 so it might all be coming to an end

Re: Annoying message about Flash Player
56MB jeez you really are living in the dark ages.
Why not move to a more modern system with at least 8GB ram.

I saw something sometime and 8Megs was all the way maxed... (I can make it lower but then the monitor is sluggish in displaying things)

Re: Annoying message about Flash Player
Well if you have an add in card it would like be a very early gpu. So chances are it's not much if its utilising system RAM for your display. I imagine you probably have an old CRT style monitor.
