If you've had a proper hearing test then they should be set up to the correctly, and they will take a bit of getting used to. They will end up sounding as naturally as hearing without them. Usually only takes a short time. Start off with a click or 2 lower on the volume if you're finding it hard to adjust, then increase it to the default setting over time.
Hearing aids when fitted correctly should feel like you're not wearing them at all but again could take a bit of time.

I will give it a shot lowing the volume for a while.
The problem when setting them up was it was difficult for them to get my voice to sound less 'scratchy' (cant think of a better term) without ruining all the other sound improvements, i guess i'll get used to the differences over the months.

Doesn't matter how loud people talk, even at the IMAX cinema that is loud enough to make ears bleed I still can't understand what people are saying.

My hearing wasn't terrible i could make do without wearing them but usually have to look at someone and listen hard especially if they spoke softly or have a powerful accent which i can never understand.
When i cover my ears or attempted to adjust the position of the aids they whistle, can everyone else hear that or just me?
Still not sure if i can wear them in the cleanroom at work as i have to wear a hood covering the head, but it'll be a while before i attempt that.

Re: Moans and Pet Hates part 8
Hoods etc shouldn't affect them nor make them whistle, but the whistling is totally normal, though it gets worse the higher you set the volume. Mine needs renewing as they are now whistling when I yawn, lol. Anyone around can hear it too.
I had to wear hearing aids since early 1980's, back then they made everything sounds like a cheap walkie talkies and was set up badly, but they were sensitive. You could probably hear someone blink 2 miles away. They were so bad I didn't bother with them. Luckily things have improved since then.

Time to worry is when going into a noisy enviroment (crowded pub) noise coming from all directions, can't hear the person in front of yourself talking!

Re: Moans and Pet Hates part 8
i got hearing aids to help my tinnitus , as the buzzing was awful. Needless to say it does not help very much. But I found doors clicking was loud and paper noise, But it never intervered with sound of voices. Sometimes I wonder if they are in correct, ,

With newly fitted hearing aids I found it took some weeks to get used to the sounds.
Fitting of what are called 'moulds' are supposed to enhance the tonal qualities of the sound heard, standard cones normally fitted on installation I much prefer.
Just be aware also the batteries are only good for one week (5-7days) on replacement the sound levels go to minimum, adjustment to a normal level taking only a few seconds.

I buy my hearing aid batteries (in bulk) and tubing from HearingDirect and cheap enough not to worry about. You can get them for free but since I have to do it by post it's a pain in the backside.

I get my batteries for free, luckily the doctors surgery is a 2min walk from me for new tubes and batteries etc.

It's wotrth remembering that the zinc-air batteries work best if you remove the seal, then leave them out for a minute or two for the chemical reaction to take place. Thye last longer that way too.

Here in Leeds only designated medical outlets supply batteries ( plastic card to be used to confirm usage) linked into a NHS database recording historic info.

I had to decline to quote for some work today: Modifying some 8051 assembler code circa 1994. It's so obfuscated I can't decipher it let alone modify it for the client.

Re: Moans and Pet Hates part 8
What a crap night.
My niece's bunny was acting strange last night his head was up in the air and his mouth was open.
On the way to the vets he has in his box on my niece's lap and he died
My sister is in tears and to top things off she is is going away for the weekend.
RIP Marvin
