According to jfman, you can run linear channels at virtually no cost!

Of course you have left out my caveat "if you hold the content already".

It's observably the case that the cost of broadcasting a liner channel is tiny given how many channels there are in the Virgin EPG, free to air on satellite, etc. many of which broadcast to virtually zero viewers.

https://cineuropa.org/en/newsdetail/307002/

While the article is from 2016 - Europe doesn't have over 5000 television channels because it's cost prohibitive to broadcast.

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2020)

Hmm! If all these channels go on my historic VM account what will I be paying for? Can I get a reduction on my payment?

Media Boy HQ now thinks that the following may happen:

-Pick TV and Blaze will become one called Pick TV
-Blaze slot on Freeview will be reuse for Sky Arts to launch on Freeview
Why would your 'sources' think that? There are no signs of Disney wishing to close either channel.

I don't think that some of the promised things have even appeared on Sky's own satellite service yet, let alone a 3rd Party like VM.

I wouldn't be surprised if they want to launch it all at once.

Yup, they're always playing catch up (usually with Sky). VM customers are treated like the poor relations.

Cable had proper video-on-demand well before others in the UK so that's a little unfair.

Have two 4K EPG channels too - and provide HDR output.

That was years ago and only until technology developed that allowed other providers to have a return path.

Well I wasn't saying that was the only thing, it was the first thing that came to mind in the short time I had when posting.
