London and several other major cities will get FTTP via a Openreach connection over the next few years, but apart from a few smaller FTTP operators laying cables, I don't see FTTP becoming the norm for everyone soon unless someone is prepared to spend billions.

Eventually, Openreach will FTTP most major areas as that was the whole point of FTTC to begin with, in that fibre was pushed out closer into residential areas. They should have just done FTTP there and then.
