I dare say that these glitches will be sorted out when the trial is over, Gavin, but it does take away the enjoyment of the match somewhat.
I am sure the BBC won't roll out UHD until all these problems have been ironed out.

No sound issues on my UHD tv app.
Only get UHD sound issues from the V6 box.

Re: UHD on Virgin Media
For the England games I switch the audio to a 5.1 feed from BBC1HD - delayed to match the 4K audio.

I noticed the other day that Wimbledon UHD was available without using the beta iPlayer, so the BBC must be pretty happy with the way the trial is going.

Re: UHD on Virgin Media
As far as I have seen, both the World Cup and Wimbledon have been available from the standard iPlayer, no beta required.

How did you do that, as it is 40 seconds out?

Re: UHD on Virgin Media
They don't call it a trial when they plug it on the channel so it's no longer a trial to those who try it via the announcement.
The delivery platform is always going to be the issue as it's relying on outside variables, I just hope to god it's going to be part of a wide platform but I doubt it.

As it happens I have - but I wouldn't release anything to the general public until I was sure it was ready ( that decision would have been taken by testing it myself)

And how do you test how it behaves for millions of users of variable skill levels across the country, using thousands of different TV models on dozens of different ISPs?

Re: UHD on Virgin Media
It is two-minutes out for HLG.
My amp (most amps) allow you to mix and match the video and audio channels coming into it.
So simply delay the audio input using a device live TiVo or Sky+/Q - and add it to the live iPlayer UHD/HLG video.
And then close the windows so you don't hear the cheers two minutes early.

Re: UHD on Virgin Media
Ok, i can see delaying the HD Dolby 5.1 feed from Tivo to AVR and then allow iPlayer UHD HLG picture to catch up.
It would be tricky to get in bang on, especially lip sync.
