Ethernet Cable

I recently bought a new HP AIO computer, having used my old computer
for 14 years. I simply connected the existing Ethernet cable from my router
to the new computer and it works perfectly. It is a Virgin Media router and blue Ethernet cable.

I need a separate Ethernet cable to connect my old PC to clear my hard drive
before scrapping.

No problem on the Web, there are plenty, but are covered by specifications
and even colours. I presume the plugs are all standard.

I have no idea what the specification is and simply want an Ethernet cable.
Why is it so complicated ? All I need is an Ethernet cable, but how do I buy one ?

Re: Ethernet Cable

The colour doesn't indicate anything, they are all the same.

A CAT5e will do the job for you or get a CAT6 and use it for PC to Hub afterwards.

Pip, thank you so much for that rapid response on my silly little question.
I will get a CAT6.
