This is what I started with Jules http://www.vapeescape.co.uk/the-ve-r...deluxe-kit~151. The battery lasts about 2 days and there's 2 of them so it's a good kit to start with. You'd need to buy the wall charger to go with that set. I buy from him all the time, he's brill. You could ask him to swap the carts for a clearo so you get 2 of those, they're easier to clean/refill.

And then choose any eliquid, i buy mine from freedomvape, it's the L&B flavour but it doesn't taste like ashtrays like some i've had it's just a subtle taste which suits me.

I'd definitely still be smoking if it wasn't for e-cigs. We can't all do the willpower method

Re: Electronic Cigarettes should i or shouldn't i ?

I stopped smoking in 2002 - just went cold turkey from smoking 20 a day for the previous 20+ yrs. Mostly because I couldn't be doing with all the faffing around with various methods.

My grandparents smoke like crazy amounts 60+ a day each!...

They went onto these e-fag things and had the ones where you get a bottle of nicotine liquid - which to me seems a bit off as it's a poison and should be regulated.

anyway...

When you smoke a fag, you have whatever nicotine is in it, and its kinda measurable, these things you chuff on until you .. get bored? or something, it's certainly not measurable though.

To cut a long story short, my grandparents were probably smoking about 100 fags worth of nicotine a day in the end, simply because what they were doing wasn't measurable in any sense of the word, and I suspect over time that's probably more dangerous than just smoking a fag the old fashioned way.

Re: Electronic Cigarettes should i or shouldn't i ?

Sorry, but that's rollocks. The liquid comes in differing strengths, measured in milligrams of nicotine per milliliter. You fill up the ecig, so you know how many ml you put in, so you have a measure of the amount of nicotine you're putting in. It's true that that's not a measure of how much the body absorbs, but it's not that clear how much nicotine you absorb from a cigarette either. Bottom line is that it's difficult to directly compare amount of nicotine used with ecigs to cigarettes smoked. It's very easy to keep track of the amount and strength of e-liquid used though. It's what I did when I quit smoking. I just kept lowering the nicotine content of the e-liquid and kept my usage constant.

I agree that there should be some form of regulation though, if only to ensure quality control in terms of the nicotine content.

Re: Electronic Cigarettes should i or shouldn't i ?

Whatever... Not terribly bothered, I stopped smoking period.
All these 'alternative' methods of not smoking aren't much better than smoking a cigarette. I'm not aware of anyone who's successfully quit whilst using patches, gum, inhalers, e-cigs etc etc. Bottom line - if you're taking in nicotine you still got the habit.

We may well find in years to come, that all this... 'it's healthier for you than smoking' may well turn out to be a load of tosh, I'm sure there will be proper scientific studies coming along in due course.

You are right in that traditional Nicotine Replacement Therapies have atrocious success rates when it comes to getting people off the fags. This is where ecigs are different. May people are quite happy using them as an alternative to cigarettes. The main ingredients in ecigs are Nicotine, Food grade flavourings, and Propylene Glycol which is generally regarded as safe for ingestion and found in items like tooth paste. Now it is unclear just how safe these ingredients are (only time will tell, but for now there are no obvious risks), but they are bound to be a hell of a lot safer than inhaling the 4000 or chemicals present in tobacco smoke many of which are known to be carcinogenic.

For those people that struggle to give up their nicotine addiction (and the many people that actually enjoy smoking), ecigs are an alternative to cigarettes that is likely to be a hell of a lot safer, and doesn't make you feel like you are being deprived of something.

For me, the fact that I didn't feel deprived and realised that if I wanted to, I could just keep using ecigs and be fine with that made it a lot easier to give up the fags. I then went a step further, and cut out the nicotine altogether and then the ecig altogether. I haven't had a cigarette since the day I picked up an ecig, and I don't think I could have done it without it.

Re: Electronic Cigarettes should i or shouldn't i ?

Been nearly a year since i started this thread so thought i'd come on and give an update . Been tobacco free since i started on them and have progressed with my vaping as well going from my original cigalike ecig to clearo and ego onto my zmax v5 that i have now with carto tanks. For you Tech my GP has praised me going onto the ecigs as they are healthier and better for me longterm recent xrays and scans have shown my lungs are seventy percent clear and will be fully clear within the next year. I can taste things better now and of course i no longer wake up in the morrning coughing my guts up always a plus lol.

I wasn't looking to stop smoking i actually liked the smoking part i didn't like the health downsides so ecigs are working great for me i get the best of both worlds with no ill effects. People have to be careful about where they get their liquid from as there is a huge gap in quality and ingredients between many of the suppliers and the industry in the UK has called for tighter regulation in this area as well as being happy with a minimum age they can be sold at. Some but not all chinese liquids do contain some horrendous stuff in them and if buying from china do a bit of research first to make sure your buying safe.

I remember Gary you didn't get on with the cigalike at all maybe you'd be better off with an ego battery ce5 clearomiser setup as you'd get more from that then you ever would with a cigalike. Hope those who decided to try them had an easy time of it and hopefully they have helped you .

Re: Electronic Cigarettes should i or shouldn't i ?

I still have my vaping one. the one you fill up with liquid. can't remember what you call them now (it's in the other ecig thread)
but I don't use it as it plays my sinuses up rotten.

I tried it a while ago and I had a coughing fit because I enhaled too much.

I think I was just born to smoke naturally

Well done Rizzy. The health benefits you have experienced must be very satisfying and I hope they spur other members to give your method of giving up smoking actual cigarettes a go.

100ml liquids at Misteliquid. Pretty cheap given the prices of standard 10, 20 and 30 ml. You can also buy eGo replicas from Chinese wholesale sites for dirt cheap. Quality is unknown though as I've never thoroughly used one. Some CE5 clearo's fall apart too easily rendering them useless. Innokin dual coils are a decent buy though.

The cheap Chinese one's don't last.

I tend to look out for listing with 1) Rep 2) CE certificate with product. Otherwise someone's probably wrapped metal round a standard AA battery. Pretty much what most knock offs are.

I've been on mine for a few weeks and have been playing around with flavours. I'm hooked on Butterscotch and I'm now mixing my own E juice, I add more flavouring which I get from here.
