But what about the people who really want to stay with VM but, if BT sports doesn't arrive, would have to because of the lack of it?
That is why people want to know in advance of the start up of BT sports.
I am sure VM will announce the situation as soon as possible, but that doesn't stop the group of people I referred to above feeling frustrated, and internet forums is the place for them to air that frustration.

Whether l decide to have BT Sports very much depends on the price but if the worst scenario arrives and we don't get it then l certainly won't be leaving.

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2013) Vol. 3.
For me it's nothing to do with agreeing a price. The problem is more fundamental. BT insist on invoicing the customer directly. They are able to do this on their own platform and Sky's supports it too. However VM doesn't support such an arrangement with all charges for premium channels appearing on our VM bill.
This is not compatible with the reason for BT Sports' existence which is as a vehicle to encourage the adoption of BT BB and phone services.
So in my opinion the chances of BT Sport coming to VM is nil. However I can imagine a situation where BT's intervention in the market will result in Sky seeing VM as less of an enemy and being more willing to co-operate with them. Sky will not want to see VM customers leaving and handing their money to BT (either by BT's or Sky's platforms) so may be more inclined to strengthen the VM channel lineup.

Apologies JustaBloke for editing down your quote, but I just wanted to expand on these two comments.
Would it not have been better for BT and consumers to simply offer their Sports channels in a similar fashion to Sky's Now TV; via more devices, other than their own online app via their BB product?
I can see why they went through Sky, but that might be a can of worms for BT customers when carriage deals are being renewed. Perhaps Sky will insist on charging customers directly.

The channel exists to rival Sky. The whole broadband customers getting it free thing is plan b after they failed to get the rights packages that they really wanted, or that they thought their huge offer would get them.

Good point - if it matters that much to you, it makes sense.

I'm willing to bet my house that Sky Atlantic will be on VM within a few months, possibly showing mainly reruns in future. This news may change things slightly:
http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/tv/news/...nal-shows.html
|
I read that as saying because they have so many returning US shows they have less space for new ones. I don't think the overall number of US shows will fall.
In reply to Chad, I have thoroughly enjoyed some of Sky's original programming. Ironically it's those shows that they have made and then put on Sky Atlantic that have been worse, IMO.

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2013) Vol. 3.
BT Sports will be announced to arrive on VM 1 week before the 1st of August when BT Sport is due to air. The reason they aren't announcing it now is because BT and Sky and VM have agreements with VM to get people to leave VM and switch over to sky or BT. When this time has elapsed as part of this deal BT sport will be announced as arriving on VM when stated and Atlantic shortly after. There will therefore be no reason not to offer Atlantic to VM customers on the XL package as they will lose advertising revenue with people downloading GoT via torrents. I believe that VM will have a wholesale price for VM customers, so it may only cost a little bit more for XL customers than prior with ESPN. It isn't going to cost an extra subscription just the XL price as far as I am aware.
