Kit return packaging

I'm going through the disconnection process, and have received the kit return packaging (V6 box and SH3). The instructions make a point about installing the silver protective cap onto each coax port on the wall boxes, however my package only includes one cap.

Is it worth me calling up asking for another cap to be sent out (if indeed such piece-meal parts are possible)? Is it of much significance if the cap doesn't get installed?

Re: Kit return packaging

If the cap is heavy-ish, then it is a terminator (75 ohms) which will protect the VM network from noise ingress that might arise in your house. In that case you would be a good citizen to ask for another but you are under no obligation.

Calling them will be a waste of time as it’s not in the offshore script. Going onto the VM forum would be the better route because your good intentions are then on record and decent people will deal with your enquiry.

Re: Kit return packaging

It works both ways, noise ingress from the VM network may interfere with equipment in the house if not capped off at every point.

Re: Kit return packaging

Nah - don’t think so. On what technical basis do you say that?

Re: Kit return packaging

Thank you, Seph. I might have a bash on the VM forum.

Re: Kit return packaging

That's a terminator. I put them on spare ports on any splitters that are in use.
