A national register of sepsis diagnosed patients would help also as it would tell them how common this condition actually is..

Re: Sepsis
You do hear a lot of stories about people who have died or almost died. It is quite scary. That said the 1 in 5 number is global so includes countries where, to put it bluntly, the sepsis gets people before cancer will.

It also gets them before they can get anywhere near a doctor or nurse.

Re: Sepsis
My husband had sepsis last January and we can't fault the way it was dealt with.
The doctor called for an ambulance within minutes of examining him and they arrived 10 minutes later, put him on a saline drip and just over 40 minutes after walking into the Doctors surgery, John was in Resus, the blue light ride into to central Manchester in the rush hour was errrr intestesting. A team of doctors and nurses were on standby. He immediately had blood tests taken, was connected to monitors, oxygen and was hooked up to intravenous antibiotics.
I know things can go wrong but when they go right you realise just how marvelous our NHS can be.

Re: Sepsis
Luckily it's diagnosis is becoming a lot quicker, and minutes can save lives.
Fit and healthy people can go from 100% OK to dead in just 12 hours.
