I've already got a desktop on VM BB and just got an old laptop for my girlfriend that I want to connect as well, any advice regarding how to connect/set up and which make/model of routers to purchase, (cabled or wireless), thanks in advance

I have a NTL cable modem upstairs connected by Ethernet to a NetGear WGR614 v6 cable router, connected by ethernet to a desktop machine. My laptop connects quite happily to this and I get the full 4Mb bandwidth.
