Re: Freeware Alternative Software List

Comodo not on the list, but ZoneAlarm is! April Fools was last month.
ZoneAlarm is bloatware, avoid it.
Also, Sygate used to be the dogs, until Norton bought it and abandoned it (instead of replacing their garbage offering with it). I don't know how well it would perform today, given some of the things i've seen malware do.

Apart from that, here are a few more good anti-spyware progs

A-squared - havn't used this one myself, but the anti-malware forums say it's ok.
Spyware Terminator
SUPERAntiSpyware
Spyware Doctor Starter edition - http://www.pctools.com/downloads/sdstart.exe

Latest Newsletter here

If you subscribe they let you know of updates to the pages etc.

Another source is the New OpenDisc Project, which has replaced the old OpenCD project, which is now defunct.

From this page you can either download the complete CD or just the software you require by clicking on each program icon from the list.

Acronis True Image 8.0 Free Genuine License and Download

Unfortunately, version 8 is not vista compatible, but XP users will be fine.

Re: Freeware Alternative Software List

Onyx seems to be a good clean up utility similar to CCleaner but for the Mac.
