Sea-Watch 3 finally docks in Italy

Remember this one? The ship that picked up migrants and was refused permission to offload them in Italy.

For two weeks, Sea-Watch 3 was unable to come ashore after picking up the stricken migrants drifting in an inflatable raft in the Mediterranean Sea.

Ms Rackete (the captain) said Sea-Watch had tried to co-operate with the authorities, engaging with Italy, Germany, Malta and France and opening contacts with the European Commission.

However, after two weeks in limbo, Sea-Watch, a German charity, said the boat was forced to enter Italian waters since there was no other option left to ensure the migrants' safety.

Now I may be a Salty Dog but I'm no seafarer, yet I assume there would be . . within 2 weeks sailing . . another country that would accept these migrants?

Or is this some kind of political posturing from the EU to force the Italians to adhere to their policies regarding migrants rescued by patrolling ships . .
