Can't Access Linksys Router using wireless connection

As the topic says, I seem to have no way of being able to log in to my wireless linksys adsl router using my wireless connection to http://192.168.1.1 yet it all works fine when I have a CAT 5 connected instead. Am I missing something ? I can't find anything on google as I am not sure what the problem is.

Cheers

With the cat5 connected have you double checked all settings to make sure you haven't ticked a box that is causing the problem? What happens when you try to connect through the wireless interface?

Re: Can't Access Linksys Router using wireless connection

It just can't find the http://192.168.1.1 by going go the IE6 no access page like when ur internet fubar'd. Only difference between Cat 5 and wireless, is when there a cat 5 inserted, there an extra line in My Network places called "Internet Connection" or something along those lines and it doesn't appear on Wireless even though everything works as it should.

Re: Can't Access Linksys Router using wireless connection

Iirc, some of the linksys routers have a security feature disallowing wireless access to the admin page unless you enable it - ie you must use the cabled interface to allow wireless config. What model of router?

Re: Can't Access Linksys Router using wireless connection

MAke sure there is no proxy configured in your IE, to check goto tools->internet options, then the connections tab and then LAN settings.

If you have a proxy configured this will be indicated at the bottom of the window that shows.

You will need to disable this temporaly whilst you access your router from your wireless connection or add 192.168.x.x in the exceptions table under advanced.

Re: Can't Access Linksys Router using wireless connection

Is this the same computer that can configure wired but not wirelessly?

When connected wirelessly, can you ping the routers IP?

Is there a manual proxy in IE, and if so is 192.168.1.1 listed in the 'bypass proxy' list?

The WAG54G only has an option to enable 'Remote Admin' (ie via the Internet port) and nothing to enable/disable Wireless config.

Hth.
