BBC 3 resurrected - on BBC1

The Beeb have addressed the lack of interest shown in BBC3 programmes on the i-Player by repeating some BBC3 shows after the 10 o'Clock News on BBC1.

They always did commit to broadcasting original BBC3 programmes on tv, just put them on at stupid times.

Still, be nice for if they had their own channel. However if the licence fee is frozen for 6 years that's what happens.

This was part of the BBC Trust’s stipulation from day one. The BBC were only allowed to take Three off-air on condition that all its long-form programmes were also repeated on broadcast channels. In practice this means Three programmes tend to get shown late on a Thursday or Friday night on BBC1.

It seems they’re now trying to give the material a slightly higher profile. Surely this is somewhat counter to your narrative OB? Three’s output is aimed at 18-35s, the very demographic that supposedly is eminently reachable via streaming platforms. Yet the BBC seems to need to push its content made for that demographic via its primary broadcast channel.

I suppose you could read it that way. Or maybe the truth is that this age group is not really into BBC programming.

YouTube type material is more up their street, I guess.
